How to Prepare a Vector File for Laser Cutting

A good laser cutting file starts with clean geometry. Before you export, make sure every shape is a closed path and that there are no duplicate or overlapping lines. Duplicates make the machine cut the same line twice, which wastes time and can burn the material.

Next, set all cut lines to a hairline stroke and remove any fills you don’t need. Reduce extra nodes using the Smooth tool, and always save a backup copy in CDR before you export to your cutter’s preferred format.
